David Lerner reached a new low recently when he tried to defend himself before investors demanding an explanation as to recent events.
Securities regulator FINRA has filed a complaint against David Lerner Associates charging the firm with displaying misleading advertisements about returns and soliciting investors to purchase the Apple REITs without fully investigating the suitability of the investment. For your reference, the link to the FINRA press release http://www.finra.org/Newsroom/NewsReleases/2011/P123738.
In his initial response, David Lerner went on the offensive – claiming his firm simply was the victim of a witch hunt by FINRA following its failure to discover the Bernie Madoff fraud. Not compelling.
But in New Jersey recently, David Lerner employed despicable tactics. He accused FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority whose purpose is to protect investors under the auspices of the SEC), to the Nazis of World War II.
David Lerner should be ashamed of himself!
