MORGAN KEEGAN BOND FUNDS
HAVE YOU LOST MONEY IN MORGAN KEEGAN FUNDS?
You may have grounds to recover your investment losses if you have invested in:
- Regions MK Select Intermediate Bond Fund (RIBCX, MKIBX, and RIBIX)
- Regions MK Select High Income Fund (RHICX, MKHIX, and RHIIX)
- RMK Multi-Sector High Income Fund (RHY)
- RMK High Income Fund (RMH)
- RMK Strategic Income Fund (RSF)
Morningstar Inc. data indicates that the Regions Morgan Keegan Select Intermediate Bond Fund, one of the worst performing funds, is down 44% since the start of 2008 and 72% over the past year. It is rare for bond mutual funds to suffer annual losses of that magnitude. Holdings in the funds include collateralized debt obligations and other securities which are difficult to value. According to the Wall Street Journal, funds like the Regions Morgan Keegan Select High Income Fund likely have suffered due to an over-concentration in subprime mortgage-backed securities causing investors to lose millions of dollars.
Morgan Keegan has been fined for securities violations by regulators in the past few years for their bond fund practices, including inadequate disclosure for municipal and corporate bonds in the auction rate securities market, excessive mark-ups on securities, and late-trading of mutual funds.
